Optimized UX practices

Accelerating alignment, decision-making, and implementation

Background

During the pandemic, sudden remote work exposed operational gaps: workshops lost steam, miscommunications proliferated, and key launches lacked stakeholder input.

Role and contributions

As a senior UX manager, I began adapting traditional research and design frameworks and artifacts, like sprints and usability testing, to meet the evolving needs of my 50-person product organization. These adaptations kept teams aligned and raised the quality of design and engineering outputs.

Frameworks and resources

01 Remote workshops

Helping teams sprint toward shared goals

02 Responsiveness guide

Educating on accessibility standards to raise the quality bar

03 In-house testing

Faster feedback from stakeholders before product launches

01 Remote workshops

Helping teams sprint toward shared goals

I designed a flexible, remote sprint framework to help teams confidently tackle complex problems and validate ideas. The two-day workshop, accompanied by a brief take-home assignment (~3 hours in total), guides teams through collaborative problem definition, ideation, and solution planning.

A pilot focused on designing a new digital health domain produced several actionable outputs: design principles, a testable prototype, and a research plan, which gave the team clarity and momentum.

02 Responsiveness guide

Educating across disciplines to raise the quality bar

When Bank of America, one of Personify Health’s customers, needed to meet accessibility requirements under a tight deadline, I created a company-wide responsiveness guide outlining accessibility standards (zoom, reflow, text resize), priority pages, and screen size recommendations.

Designers, engineers, and PMs used the guide as a shared reference point, ensuring consistent implementation and accelerating compliance.

03 In-house usability testing

Faster feedback from stakeholders before launch

To reduce surprises at launch and break down silos, I introduced an in-house usability testing practice. I created reusable templates with scenarios, instructions, and scripts, enabling designers to test with teammates and stakeholders quickly. This provided teams with a lightweight method to validate designs early, gather actionable feedback, and establish alignment across groups.
